The Goif GTE is great in all of its modes; electric, hybrid and GTE. The latter provides swift and enjoyable performance while switching into EV mode delivers a respectable range to cut fuel bills and is somewhat similar to the old e-Golf. Like most plug-in hybrids, there’s no rapid charge option, which means home, work or slow-public charging are the only practical ways to recharge the battery. Expect 45mpg if driving normally; not bad considering the GTE can be thought of as 85% GTE. This is a true wolf in sheep’s clothing and benefits from the same updates the e-Golf does with improved touch screen infotainment systems.
